Men’s Singles Playdowns - Daniel Gorelick is the Man
Twenty of PIMD’s top men bowlers came together at the San Jose LBC this last weekend to compete in the singles playdowns to earn the right to represent PIMD in the US National Championships. The men started bright and early at 8am both days. All of Saturday and early Sunday were dedicated to six rounds of group play. After completing the group play, Jesse May, Kevin Reynolds, Tom Burnoski, Rob Hoey, Frankie Napoli, Daniel Gorelick, Sasha Halper, and Calvin Darling qualified in the too eight to compete in a single elimination bracket. Jesse and Kevin held the two two seeds after having won all of their games in group play. Rob was our PIMD singles player at nationals last year and he was keen to repeat this year. In a first to 18 game, Rob was down to Calvin 17-10 in the semifinals and then refused to concede anymore points to win 18-17, creating a rematch of last year’s final vs Daniel Gorelick, who defeated Kevin in the other semifinal. This year Daniel prevailed in the final with his signature relentless consistency. Congratulations Daniel! PIMD has very strong representation for the men’s singles. Thanks to all of our players for making this a successful event and thanks to the our wonderful hosts at San Jose Lawn Bowling Club, specifically Muriel Pusateri, Marge Ling, Mark Cooney, and Mike Coiner, for supporting us for this intense weekend of bowling.
Almost the whole field.

Champ Daniel, exhausted, relieved, surprised, delighted, all of the above? You’ll have to ask him.
Nationals Qualifier: Men’s Singles PIMD Playdowns
The PIMD Playdowns are a 2 day qualifying event for the US Nationals. The winner will represent PIMD at nationals, and is committing to 5 consecutive days of bowling at Laguna Beach Sept. 15-20 (with practice days before), with two 18-end/21-point games each day. The final format for the PIMD nationals qualifier will depend on the number of entries, but registrants should expect two days with 6+ hours of bowling each day.
